John McCain on The View

John McCain just finished his segment on The View. Of course I only caught it from about half way through because I was fixing lunch for Connor and Marleigh. Mom brain led me to forget that it was even on today.

I can cope with Barbara Walters, she generally stays fairly un-biased, however, the only thing that was worse then Joy Behar with her smart-ass mouth, might have been Whoppi Goldberg *rolling her eyes* at a man that could possibly be her next Commander-in-Chief behind his back. Did Elisabeth Hasselbeck (the shows resident conservative) act in such a childish manner when Obama made his appearance on the show?! I think not. (To be positive, I watched the video footage... and was proven correct.)

I was a bit disappointed with the questions they asked, since it seemed to be a bit repetitive. They all pretty much just twisted the words of the same damn question over and over again. It wasn't as painful as I expected it to be, and he was even applauded a few times -- which was incredibly surprising. All in all, it was some publicity that he really could use... the housewives of America, the stay at home moms, like myself -- that generally ride the fence. No, not me -- but the majority of these women are sway voters.

I have to say, my favorite line out of McCain's mouth was... "And, this is coming from a man who finished 5th from the bottom of his class at The Naval Academy, which just shows you that anything can happen in America..."
and, of course Joy had to interject with her smart mouth, wondering... "Was that better or worse then President Bush??"

My personal opinion is that it is instantly made better, because he was graduating from The Naval Academy, instead of the usual Ivy League establishment... no matter what the standing.

And, while we are on the subject of the Navy, can I just put something out there. Something that has literally shocked me with the stupidity of your average American. And, believe it or not, this has happened to me twice!

I have, on the inside of my left wrist, a tattoo. It is a black Nautical Star. Christopher has a matching tattoo on both of his wrists. The Nautical Star represents guidance, as the stars/cardinal points, IE. North Star were the first things used by the sailors to guide there way on the open seas. No people, maps weren't always around. Our children are our guidance, and we got the Nautical Stars in representation of them.

Now, if you look at any of the ads (online, on TV, etc.) for John McCain -- above his name is a line with a Nautical Star in the middle. Why? Say it with me, now.... BECAUSE HE WAS IN THE NAVY. Very good, we are learning.

Okay, so back story complete -- on to the idiocy of your average American. I have had, on two separate occasions (mind you these are strangers - they know nothing of my political affiliation), ask me if the star on my wrist has anything to do with John McCain...
Yes, as soon as I saw that star above his ad, I decided to tell the world how much I supported him. WHAT IN THE HELL??

The first one was last night, at the grocery store... the lady that was checking me out, said... "I guess we know who you're voting for!" I was confused beyond belief. And then she pointed to the star. I just looked at her like she was nuts.... and said nothing.
The second one was this morning in the laundry room of our building. A gentleman that I've never even seen before just asked, point blank... "Does that star have anything to do with John McCain?" and then followed it up with this gem.... "It's cool if it does, I'm just wondering."

HUH??! *looks very confused, all over again..."
I am literally shocked at the stupidity of that statement. Well, no shit guy -- 'cause we live in America. I could even tattoo John McCain's name across my fucking forehead, if I wanted to. Thanks for the approval, laundry room douche-bag. I actually laughed at him.

FOR THE RECORD, I would never permanently change my body to show any part of my political opinion... EVER. My mouth does a fine job letting people know how I feel politically.
