it's time for your weekend update!

Rise and Shine. The sun is out, and the birds are chirping.... no wait, that's just the kids making noise. And, it's Monday. Fabulous, isn't it?
I'm a bit of a crab myself this morning. I've never been a fan of the first day of the work week, even when I'm not working. Who is, really? I guess I've just got a case of the Mondays.

This weekend, on the other hand, was pretty fabulous. Although, I felt as if I was coming off of a three day bender on Sunday afternoon....

Thursday afternoon was Christopher's Division picnic. We had a good time, I really like the majority of the people that Chris works with. Yes, I said the majority. Yes, that means that there are a few people that I'm not such the fan of, however, I'm always polite. Can you believe it? I enjoyed the bourbon that was slipped into my soda on the odd occasion, and I certainly liked the kegs of bud lite. But, what I really enjoyed was being able to spend some time with my husband, and do something other then the same old. Being able to throw balls (dunk tank!) at a Col., among other higher ups is always a treat, as well. I just regret that Chris had to stay at work after all was said and done and I headed home....
Friday afternoon was spent knee deep in 7 loads of laundry, scrubbing the bathroom, the kitchen, vacuuming, etc. Basically giving the house a really good cleaning. And, Christopher took the kids to the pool while I took care of that. All three hours of it. Sounds fair, right? It was actually pretty nice to be able to clean, and take care of laundry without the two of them hanging onto my legs.

Friday evening, Amy picked the kids up and took them shopping with her. They embarked on The Great Ikea Adventure. While Chris and I got ready for a BBQ with some of the folks that he works with. It was a good time... It was a different time, I should say. I enjoyed myself, don't get me wrong. Chris and I always love getting out together, and having a little fun. I polished off my fair share of wine, and beer.... of course. We arrived home and were knocked out before our heads hit the pillow. We picked up the kids from "Aunt Mimi's" on Saturday morning, and I was off to my first day of training as a receptionist at Lords and Ladies.
I was trained by Amanda, who happened to be returning to college the following week... IE, she was 19; and didn't give a shit about training me, let alone anything else. You can imagine how helpful that was. I was really on my own to ask, whoever I could find to answer my questions, as she was sitting in the corner reading for the most part of the day. I figured a lot of stuff out, considering -- the only times I've ever stepped into a salon/day spa are to get waxed, colored, cut, etc. It was interesting to say the least. I've got Brittany training me next Saturday, who happens to be my friend, and now boss, kinda.... I'm sure I'll be squared away after her help.

Saturday afternoon Amy and I hit the grocery store for all kinds of yummy goodness, and about 16 bottles of vino. Amy hosted a girl's night in Saturday evening. We had an absolute blast, too. Amy made a phenomenal dip for the veggies, we had hummus/pita chips, jam and cheese tarts, bangin' kabobs on the grill, home-made mini mushroom and mozzarella pizza, and the list goes on... You should have seen us grilling in the rain! It took about three of us to figure out how we were gonna get more organic charcoal into the grill, because it went to ash in 5.3 seconds (we weren't supposed to use lighter fluid with the organic stuff, apparently -- and we were too impatient).... there were umbrellas involved, not too mention, about 4 bottles of champagne, and an entire bottle of Ruby Red Absolute had been put to shame already... SHIT SHOW! It was fabulous. I'll have to get some of the photos from Amanda (no, not the self-involved teenager from my new job that I spoke of previously... one of Amy's old co-workers, who's just wonderful). Saturday night rocked, plain and simple.

Anyhow... I crashed at Amy's that night, needless to say... and I awoke to my phone ringing at 7:30 am. It was my alarm going off. I called Chris to confirm our plans for church that morning, at 11am. HOWEVER, I was informed that we would be attending the 9:30 service. Ouch. That meant, no hitting the snooze on the alarm... It meant, jumping in the shower - STAT, and getting my ass in gear. Thank God the hangover wasn't too terrible. And, I actually enjoyed the service.
We took a short dip in the pool when we got home from church, and agreed that we should all just head up stairs and take a nap. Which I did, for almost 4 hours. It was spectacular. The kids snoozed for about 2 hours themselves, which means Christopher could watch whatever he wanted on TV, and I figure that's pretty important to most men.

"LOOK! The dress... oh wait, that's a trash bag!" that has to be the quote of the weekend...

Per usual -- I'm glad that I could entertain y'all with some inane babble about my weekend.
