it's been awhile....

I know, I know... it's been ages since I last updated. Pathetic really. Although, I've been up to my ears in boxes, packing, sorting through our crap (which I had no idea just how much crap we actually had until I had to put it all into boxes...), and getting ready for the big move. Which, by the way, happens on Saturday! Two more days. Two more days. We are almost into our beautiful home. I can't believe it. I'm beyond ecstatic. The kids rooms are almost finished -- just a few pieces of furniture need to be moved, but they got to see them for the first time this past weekend, and they went NUTS! It was great to just sit back and watch them be so happy over something that we were able to provide for them. They got brand new beds, new sheets, curtains, new pillows, comforter, not to mention they are finally in their OWN rooms -- no more sharing! Lucky little monsters. It brought tears to my eyes -- although we know that I'm a sap.

Things have just been all over the place for the last week or so... no time for much of anything -- other then preparing the house, ourselves, and packing. It's going to be a little bit of an adjustment not having my best friends down the road 10 minutes... and now it's an hour drive -- but, really, what's an hour? I'll survive. It's all worth it. Every single time that I step out onto our deck, and look around at the huge backyard that the kids now have free reign of, I'm reminded just how lucky we are. We began purchasing a few little things that are more our style or decorating taste. We found a new chandelier... why am I bothering? I'll post pictures as soon as everything is unpacked, and we are finally settled in. Hopefully by Monday evening, we'll be able to call it our own.

I hope that everyone is ready for the game on Sunday... Jesus Christ, I'll have an aneurysm if my 'boys lose this game. We'll be grilling and shouting I'm sure -- as much as we try not to, this game always sends Christopher and I into a tailspin. Not to mention, the kids are divided as well. Connor sides with Chris cheering for the Redskins, and Marleigh and I sport the blue and white jerseys of America's Team. That's right, bitches... the biggest rivalry in the NFL is on Sunday at 4. STOKED!

On a lighter note -- there are some fabulous fall fundraisers (how'd you like that alliteration) coming up in the near future... all the info. is posted on my other blog, HERE. Check it out!

September 11th, 2008

To those that lost their lives 7 years ago, today in the Twin Towers, in the Pentagon, on Flight 93 -- we will never forget. To the firefighters and other emergency personal that willingly gave their lives, after making phone calls home to their families, we thank you. To the men and women that answered the call and deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and other places unknown to the American citizens, we are grateful.

I am at a loss for words, as tears stream down my cheeks. We all know where we were when we heard what was happening that day. We should remember that day as if it were yesterday. I especially remember the anger, the rage, the pure hatred that I felt when they confirmed that this evil was attacking our innocents, simply because they were American. Because we are AMERICAN, you hate us?!

My husband sent me this essay awhile ago...
It was a response (by an Aussie mind you) to an add in a Pakistan national newspaper, offering a monetary reward to anyone who killed an "American".

An American is English, French, Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek.
An American may also be Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Iranian, Asian, Arab, Pakistani, or Afghan.
An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navajo, Apache, or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.
An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, Buddhist, or Muslim.
In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.
An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.
An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each man and woman to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country.
As of the morning of September11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. The best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes.
Americans welcome the best, but they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed.
These in fact are the people who built America.
Some of them were working in the Twin Towers on the morning of September 11, earning a better life for their families.
I've been told that the people in the Towers were from at least 30, and may be many more, other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.
So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself.
Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.
So look around you. You may find more Americans in your land than you thought were there. One day they will rise up and overthrow the old, ignorant, tired tyrants that trouble too many lands. Then those lands, too, will join the community of free and prosperous nations.
And America will welcome them!

I sob every single time that I read those words. I am so grateful to be an American, To be from the United States of America.
I look to my grandparents, and all that they survived throughout their lives... The Great Depression (my grandmother had 12 brothers and sisters, during a time when it was damn near impossible to feed a family of three), my Grandfather landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and continued to fight for this country's freedom through several more European campaigns - including The Battle of the Bulge where he earned his Silver Star. He did all of this while my Grandmother was at home, raising their son, whom he had never met. When he did finally make it home, at the whopping age of 22 a decorated war hero, he was met at the door by a two and a half year old whom he had never laid eyes on.

And, every single time I bring up politics, or the economy with my Grandmother she puts it in perspective....
"Shannon, when I was your age -- I was working at Lockheed Martin, your Pop-Pop had just come home from the war, and we were so damn grateful that we could feed our family, and had a roof over our head that nothing else mattered. Your generation is God Damn spoiled."

And, it's true. It took something like September 11th, for us to realize just how precious our freedom really is and remind us that we need to be willing to defend it, and protect it. And, here 7 short years later, and there are people that have forgotten. The people that lost, and gave their lives that day and in the months that have followed deserve for the American people to stand up and say -- "We will never forget."

I never will.

FRIENDLY REMINDER!

Okay folks, last chance to get your tickets to the benefit Saturday evening for Luke's Wings! They are expected to sell out this afternoon! You don't want to miss this!
It's monumental for Andy's Dad! It's our very first bit of public promo!
Not to mention, your $20/bracelet gets you into the after-party at Caddie's in Bethesda, with drink specials! Who can pass up drink specials??
It's sure to be a hella good time!

I digress....

I know that it's been ages since I've posted. Things have been a little bit hectic. I've been babysitting during the day for a girlfriend of mine... her son's name is Kingsley, and he's just about 7 months old, and possibly the sweetest and cutest little boy ever.... well, other then Connor of course -- and the strangest thing happens when that little boy arrives into our home. Our kids, turn into ANGELS! You'd think that it would be the opposite, you'd assume they would be jealous. Nope, they dote on him like he's a little prince. It's amazing. I was telling Christopher about this the other day, to which he responded -- "Well, we should have another baby then!" Then I choked on my wine, and he had to give me the Heimlich to start my breathing again. Right.

In the last week, the kids and I have been sick, and things have just been crazy between trying to pack, and get ready for this move, my poor husband working like he's a slave to the Egyptians building one of the pyramids! I'm serious, that poor man is EXHAUSTED all the time. I'm so grateful for his work ethic.... he really is your traditional support the family, work like a dog so that I don't have to, and give us everything that we could possibly want Daddy/Hubby. I've said it several times before. I'm one lucky broad.

Today brings the rally for McCain/Palin... which I planned on attending, however, with the kids and I being under the weather -- I'm not sure if being outside in nasty weather will do us any justice. Hopefully, he'll come around again. I'd love to see them both speak in person, and who knows... maybe they'll kiss some babies....

So, with nothing exciting to report, and still feeling as if I need to just sleep off whatever this is that is ailing me... I digress. I promise more worthwhile updates, soon.

another political tirade...

So, pardon me while I rant - yes! of course about Politics! You've been warned.

I have several bones to pick. Actually, before I start picking at issues that I've got at the moment, can we please talk about how damn proud I am of our ticket, and the GREAT speeches that the two of them put on Wednesday and Thursday. Splendid. Palin came out and made herself know for who she was, what she believed in, and her resume. She's more then capable for this position, and I'm proud that she will be the first woman to run on the GOP ticket. It's taken long enough. Yes, I may fall to the fairly far right on most issues -- but, you know what, I've been dying to see a woman stand proudly at that podium and accept a nomination, which happened on Wednesday. Yes, I got goosebumps, and yes, I teared up. Call me a douche bag, but I call myself a proud American. She even threw a bit of humor into the mix...
"What's the difference between a Hockey mom, and a pit-bull??" "Lipstick!" HA, I loved it. that's my kind of woman! In fact, I got into bed after the Governor finished her speech, and told my husband that I wanted to have a lesbian threesome with Cindy McCain, and Sarah Palin. No, of course I'm not a lesbian -- I just think that those two femme's are every Republican woman's wet dream. Seriously.
And, if I could be so hasty as to make a prediction... If our ticket is elected, and Cindy does become the First Lady, I believe that she will rival Mrs. Jackie O - in her sense of fashion. She's iconic in the way that she pulls herself together. Everything from her shoes to her pearls stand out from the crowd, and she just works. I'm jealous, can you tell? Sarah Plain doesn't look half bad herself. They both generally look, fabulous!
McCain's speech was simply grand. He also brought tears to my eyes as he recounted those horrible years in Hanoi. He's a maverick. He's strong willed. He's compassionate at the same time. His platform has made me more proud of my conservative beliefs then I have been in years. John McCain is who we need to lead our party, expand our party, and bring the GOP back to what we really stand for. Anyone else thinking about Reagan?
We all know that I feel this way, so I'll stop swooning. On to what has been seriously pissing me off for the last week.

Obviously the media has a serious hard on for Governor Palin. Would we have heard all about this, even if she wasn't nominated to be the VP candidate for the GOP? I think not. And, furthermore -- since when does our liberal media, or liberals in general have conservative morals?! Since when does having a baby at 17 bother the liberals? Since when does having a baby out of wed lock bother the liberals? I thought that women were in control of their bodies and could make all of these decisions on their own? Right?! AND, Since when does a woman need to stay home with her 4 month old? I am pretty sure that it was the left wingers that started women's lib, and burned their bras in the first place. If it were Mr. Palin, not Mrs. Palin running for VP -- there would be no talk about their newborn, and why isn't he staying at home?! Nope. I'm over it. Leave her family the fuck out of the media. I bet people don't even know the names of the McCain kids. And, fair dues to Obama for stepping up and telling the media to fuck off, and leave Sarah Palin's family alone.
It's not fair to go after politician's families. I understand that it happens... it always has, but before 24 hours had even passed the media was tearing Palin apart. That woman has more executive experience then Obama/Biden combined, and furthermore doesn't vote present. She's a maverick herself. And, I'm damn proud to call myself a Republican and support the McCain/Palin ticket.

Alright, I've got kids to play with, laundry to do, and I feel a tiny bit better now that I have gotten all of this off my chest. Happy Friday!

fall fundraising

As I laid my tired head down on the pillow last night, and believe you me -- it was TIRED... my husband rolled over, looked into my eyes like I was the most beautiful woman on the face of the planet and asked me sarcastically if I realized just how damn lucky I really am to be married to him?! We giggled, and chatted until way too late for us, and as we talked -- I really started to think about, just how lucky I really am! My biggest concern on a daily basis is the well being of our children. Dinner, lunch, breakfast, laundry, the vacuum, and fitting a shower into the schedule follow closely behind. It's a pretty cushy life.

I've been afforded the opportunity to take on my dream -- and make serious progress in accomplishing it. I've been so lucky to have to time to really focus on a charity, and trying to be a part of something much bigger, and more important then little ole me. I've had the chance to promote -- if only from the blogs, other non-profits. The way that I look at it, if I've put the info. in the face of a few people, and use my word of mouth, hey - you never know. Especially when I send out the pushy E-Mails! I am one lucky broad was the conclusion that I came to last night as I drifted off to sleep. I really am.
On that note, I'd like to take this opportunity to shove a couple of things in your face! There are two very important events coming up in the near future. Both of which, I will be attending -- therefore, I expect everyone else to attend.

First of all, the 5678 Improve group is putting on a one time comedy show and art auction to benefit Luke's Wings on Sept. 13th. 7pm - 10pm @ The Bethesda Theatre - 7719 Wisconsin Ave. Not only will you laugh your ass off, and donate to an amazing cause, but "Andy's Dad", my children's book will be getting it's very first bit of public promotion aside from the blogs, and facebook! Monumental for me, to be honest.

And, secondly --

Suited for Change is throwing a gallery soiree! Anything deemed a soiree just seems and sounds fabulous... not to mention it's another amazing cause. For more info., check out www.suitedforchange.org or www.awomensalliance.org!

I hope to see you all (yes every last one of you) at the upcoming functions!

Connor and Marleigh strike agian!

This picture is here to remind me just how special my babies are, and to have patience... even when they do turn into little monsters.... **sigh** BREATHE MAMA BREATHE!

Other then the fact that my children have been attempting to get their names into the Guinness Book of World Records for holding the most amount of time-outs for a four and three year old, nothing new going on in The Jones' household. **shakes head** If one more person tells me that it's a phase, I might lose it. I get that it's a phase, I know that it's all about Independence, and becoming their own little person, but -- I had to keep them in time-out, I am not joking for damn near two hours throughout the day yesterday. Well... it's just a phase, right? Ha.

I've had a lot of girl time this week, in light of the recent decision to move.
Tuesday was the traditional, Merren, Shannon, Amy, and Lori sit on the back porch and polish off a ridiculous amount of wine, laugh too loud, and talk about boys... including Chris who just rolls his eyes at me every time he walks past the sliding glass doors (probably because we get loud enough that he can hear the things that we are saying about him and the other men in our lives). It's necessary.
Thursday evening, uh -- last night, was spent with Devon and Marleigh. Yes, she gets included on the odd occasion. Being that she's only three she gets terribly excited for Girl's Night, and sometimes doesn't have the best of behavior for the outing. However, last night -- she was an angel. This time the locale was Devon's balcony, and it involved Marleigh explaining to us about her invisible friend -- who's name is Bingo, and HE - yes, HE is a Hula dancer. We laughed our faces off. I believe the exact quote was.... "His name is Bingo, and he's a Hula dancer -- seee! He's shakin' it, shakin' it!!" as she shook her little booty with the best of him. Pure hysterics.

Per usual, the two of them have already had one time out this morning, and they are cruising for another. I'm sure that it has something to do with the simple fact that it's been raining for three days, and there isn't much opportunity for getting their "exercises out" -- which is what they call playground, pool, outside time. I've convinced them to watch a movie, I'm sure that it's just the quiet before the storm though... in fact, Connor has taken to avoiding Marleigh all together at times because he realizes that she's going to drive him crazy to the point that he gets in trouble. Sibling interaction is fascinating.

This weekend should be a good one. Friends of ours, Becca and Anthony are finally tying the knot after over 7 years. Tonight brings the rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner as I am doing a reading (which I think is quite beautiful) at the wedding. And, tomorrow the real deal, and festivities afterwards. The reception is outside... everyone cross your fingers for beautiful weather tomorrow. No bride deserves to get rained on.

And, on a side note -- some very exciting news with my book. Check out the other blog, to catch up! www.andysdadandlukeswings.blogspot.com

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!

I didn't know you had it in you, Joe...

WOW! Another little tid-bit for you all to chew on. Check this one out.

REALLY JOE? That's interesting... because you certainly were not saying those kinds of things just the other day... *shakes head* This just confirms that I want a "Maverick" type, so to speak to be our Commander in Chief. I want someone that sticks to his guns, even if they aren't as popular as the opposition. Someone that has heart, for what he believes in -- not what he thinks will win votes.

more on Obama

THIS really bothers me. I actually don't have words to convey just how much it bothers me, and let me be clear in the fact that it's not that Obama's character being attacked is what bothers me, mud-slinging happens. I don't think it's right -- but, all politicians do it. The fact that this is a legit ad, and the things brought to light about someone that could be the next President of the United States weren't pretty. I've done a little bit of research into this, and of course the ad stretches the facts to make him look as bad as possible -- that's what they do in all political ad campaigns, however, there are big huge truths to what they are saying... these are facts.

It just re-affirms my "crazy references" to The Manchurian Candidate.

Whatever. Watch for yourself.

Madonna and A-Rod deserve each other.

Yes, I hate the Yankee's that much.

Okay, so Madonna is a stupid twat. I think we all might have known that already. I was obsessed with her as a child, she was an amazing singer and dancer -- two things that I adored... and in recent years she has done a few things that I thought were out of line, or just classless -- however, this really fucking bothers me. Just another celebrity using their fame to push their political views on the public. I feel sorry for the people that paid $175 for their ticket, and then had to watch this crap. Like I said, TWAT.

Campaign officials for U.S. Senator and Republican presidential candidate John McCain have shot back at Madonna for a segment of her just-launched new concert tour.
Madonna kicked off her Sticky and Sweet world tour at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on Saturday. During her performance of Get Stupid, an image of McCain is shown alongside those of Adolf Hitler and Robert Mugabe, as well as photos of global warming and destruction.
Later in the concert, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s face is shown in a sequence that also includes images of Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon and Al Gore.
The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time,” said Tucker Bounds, a McCain campaign spokesman. “It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits.”
REALLY THOUGH, WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM ONE OF WESLEY CLARK'S ADVISORS?!
I'm just sayin'. My only wish is that the McCain camp had ignored this crap. It's not worth their time to be worrying about people like Madonna, singing things like "Get Stupid"!

Meet The Press, 5.16.2004

I'm just sayin'... read this. Decide for yourself.

MEET THE PRESS
Transcript for May 16 [2004]
Guests: Secretary Colin Powell, Department of State; Senator Joseph Biden, D-DE, Ranking Member, Foreign Relations Committee; Senator John McCain, R-AZ, Armed Services Committee
Moderator/Panelist: Tim Russert - NBC News

Russert: Senator Biden, what do you think of John McCain as a Democratic candidate for vice president?

Biden: I think John McCain would be a great candidate for vice president. I mean it. I know John doesn’t like me saying it, but the truth of the matter is, it is. We need to heal the red and the blue here, man, the red states and the blue states. And John McCain is a loyal Republican. God, he drives me crazy how loyal he is as a Republican as much of a friend as he is. We disagree on a lot of things, but I’ll tell you, the fact of the matter is that we’ve got to bring together the red and the blue here. This is a divided nation. And I think that — I would still urge John Kerry to pick up the phone and call John McCain. He’ll say no probably. But I think John Kerry has an obligation to do that for the way he wants to heal. And I know John will listen. He’ll say no, but I’m going to tell you, I’m counting on him being a more loyal American than he is a loyal Republican.
And, John, I’m not so sure you’re so happy about the Senate. I’d like to see you president instead of the guy we have now. So–but you’re a great senator. But I think you’d also be doing a great service. Do I think it’s going to happen? No. But I think it is a reflection of the desire of this country, and the desire of people in both parties, to want to see this God-awful, vicious rift that exists in the nation healed, and John and John could go a long way to healing that rift.

**pardon? GOD, I hope that the media somewhere picks up on that number. Doubtful.

And, as shameful as this is to admit -- I found this beauty on Coulter's website -- she's fucking nuts, but on the odd occasion -- I think I actually agree with some of the sludge that comes out of her mouth. Generally, I just think she's as much of a loon as the far lefties are... but, every now and again I find myself (although I rarely admit it) almost as far to the right as she is. And, I don't mean on any of her crazy-christian-borderline racist values, perhaps just on some of her National Defense ideas... yea, as usual -- bring on the hate mail. Check out her new site -- it's fairly interesting, and a lot of the contributors aren't as loony toons as she is.

I can't believe that Summer is coming to a close...

As I sit down to finally update ye old blog -- my children are "packing their suitcases" because they are headed to the airport, apparently. I inquired as to their destination and was simply told, "The Beach" by my daughter -- that would explain why they have their bathing suits on. When I asked how they would eat, Connor just explained "They have bananas and apples there Mommy... now, can you please just open the door for me?!" Those two make me laugh non-stop.

So, I guess it's time for the usual "Weekend Update". I know, you can't contain your excitement. Calm down!
Friday was pretty uneventful. In fact, I can't even remember what we did. Oh, now I do... Nothing. We spent the afternoon at the pool -- came home, made dinner, and I believe that Christopher and I were snoring by 9pm. Why do I have a blog again? My life is so damn entertaining, that's right.
Saturday was spent at the new house, laying out what would go where and planning the attack of this daunting task called moving. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled to be moving into our new home -- it's just the packing, and actual moving part that is no fun. Saturday evening, I joined the Divine Miss. D at her 30th birthday celebration.

Where else, other then the infamous O'Connell's?! It was my first steps into the joint since I quit -- and I have to say, it wasn't nearly as awkward as I predicted. There was one run in with a certain someone, that left me a bit irritated... however, I just keep hearing my husbands words "If you are going to let a douche bag like that get under your skin..." and, so I didn't. I shrugged it off, and continued on with my evening, I took the high road. We celebrated in style, per usual -- and I really enjoyed spending time with Devon and her entourage. Again, per usual -- I paid dearly the next morning. I obviously, since leaving the industry have lost a considerable amount of ability when it comes to holding my alcohol... and perhaps the fact that 12:30 is late for me now, doesn't really help either. All in all -- it was a fab. time, and I was thrilled to spend one of my best's 30th with her.
Sunday we took on the drive to Lake Anna, to meet up with Micah and Michelle, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. We took the jet-ski out on the lake for a good 3-4 hours, alternating kids, dogs, and people. Yea, that's right -- the dogs went for a ride on the ski as well. It was hysterical to see Soma on the back -- I wish that I had the camera with me. We had all intentions of staying for dinner, but when 5pm rolled around and we thought about the two hour drive that we had back home, and Christopher's usual 4 am alarm ringing in the back of our minds, we decided to cut out and head home early. Thank God we did, because we sat in at least an hour's worth of traffic making the drive three hours, not two. It was a GREAT time though, spent with brothers and sisters. I love afternoons like that... and I can't wait to do it again. Even getting tossed off the jet-ski at 50 mph by my "loving" husband was entertaining (at least for everyone else it was)... *rolls eyes*

Hamptons 2008 aka "Swap Weekend"

A little background, yes?
Well -- my very good friend Nicole (she resides in NYC), her parents own a home in South Hampton... Sag Harbour to be exact. And, it's an absolutely stunning specimen of residency. Every summer, well -- at least for the last three summers in a row, Nicole and her parents "swap" for a weekend. And, it just so happens that Nicole also invites her nearest and dearest to join her in the swapping. I know, we really need to find better descriptors to deem this event.... because swapping almost sounds like bad porn.
Nicole's Mama and Papa take over her apartment in the city, stay up late, eat out, enjoy the noise for a few nights, and Nicole and her posse take over the pool, and sheer gorgeousness of the house in Sag Harbour.
It's so gracious, and pretty much amazing of her parents to be so kind as to not only turn the house over to Nicole - but, to allow the likes of us in to join her in their home.
What a fabulous weekend it was, too! Here's the recap.
Let's start off with the cast for the weekend.

STARRING:

NICOLE, THE HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST!

J.P., GRILL MASTER

ALYSSA AND Q, I bow down to her cooking skills, and poor Q had crackberry thumbs!

JASON LUBIVITZ (is this how we spell Jason's fake last name?)

CHRISTINA, always camera ready!

AMY, YOU WANT THIS GIRL ON YOUR ULTIMATE FRISBEE TEAM!

NICK, TEQUILA MAKES HIS CLOTHES FALL OFF... well, not exactly.

SHANNON, Micheal Phelp's stand in for the weekend.

Now, for the script. What a time we had. Friday evening, we arrived in around 9ish. The drive wasn't terrible. It certainly wasn't un-eventful, I'll put it that way. I believe it took us all in all about 9 hours to get there. 3 hours tacked on for rain, traffic, potty/food breaks, etc. Of course, we immediately started to shovel the food and alcohol into our faces as soon as we arrived. But, can you blame us? After ribs, beer, jager, cider, more beer, the most amazing chicken salad ever (Martha Stewert doesn't have SHIT on Alyssa), snacks galore, and anything else that came within about a foot of Nick's reach we were ready for the traditional late night swim. Which, of course resulted in bruises, and scrapes to say the least. Some of which were self inflicted because we all know drinking and swimming can be a very hazardous affair, and some where so graciously given to me by others. *cough* nick *cough* All in all, by the time that 2:30 am rolled around, we were all snoring in our over sized, over comfy beds. Not before I left a little surprise for everyone to find on Saturday morning... I am such a mom. Yes, that's right -- I left a bottle of water and a little note for each of us on the kitchen counter.

I awoke Saturday morning to the sound of Nick and Amy's voices in the pool. I would normally be irritated as it was 8:30 am, and a rare chance for me to sleep in... however, with mimosas, bloody marys, and well just the thought of laying my ass on a raft with a drink in hand sounded pretty fabulous. Thus, the debauchery begins.... in the form of champagne, bloodys, then turned towards cider, homemade peach daiquiris, bangin' sangria, more champagne, something like 27 RBV's, and a baileys and coffee for a night cap.... somewhere around 2:00am. We laughed our asses off pretty much for hours on end in between. Amy and I deserve purple hearts after being tossed into the pool on several occasions and taking a speeding frisbee to the forehead. Dangerous, I tell you. Played a very competitive game of "Asshole" -- in which, I was generally the Asshole. Surprised? In fact, the sunglasses went on somewhere around 9 am, and didn't come off until I laid my ass in bed. Typical Hampton's.

The paparazzi even showed up!

**side note: I've just done the math and we spent a total of 16 hours in the car, and about 20 hours drinking, I'd say that = a successful trip. Right?

I hadn't seen this commercial before, and it's very touching.

it's that time of the week again....

Well kids, it's that time of the week again. Yes -- that's right, it's time for me to bore the shit out of you with my "weekend update". I promise that it will be a quick one, as my husband has the Olympics on, and he really enjoys them, and has been yelling to the bedroom from the living room...

"Baby, they are on!"

"Shan, the Olympics are on!!"

"It's the finals for swimming!!"

I think he might want me to come and join him.... and just doesn't know how to communicate that. Either way, he'll continue to shout at me from across the house until I get up and go sit on the couch with him,

I can only be a smart ass because of the sweet post about my hubby that is below this one.

Anyhow, Friday was filled with hours by the pool, and then with some good prosecco and delicious food... followed by an impromptu Amy/Shannon running their mouths on the back porch 'til 3:30 am, while waiting for Christopher to arrive home.

Chris and Nick (Amy's significant other) hit up the Iota on Friday evening, and let's just say that it took me longer to put my husband to bed that night then it did my children! It was amusing to say the least.

We awoke on Saturday morning to find that the drunky hubby from the night before had done all of the laundry, and made us a stellar breakfast! I knew I married that man for some reason! Again, followed by hours at the pool all day Saturday -- we left Chris upstairs hoping that he would recoup from the festivities on Friday evening.

Saturday evening we headed out to Terrera Winery for Becca's Bacholerette party. It got off to a rocky start, IE. everyone was all over the place and some of us were late -- however, we ended up all eventually meeting up and having a damn good time. The band that played was great, we danced, we sang, and of course... drank a shit ton of wine. The evening came to a close fairly early that evening since I had every intention of getting up and going to church with the family on Sunday morning.

Of course, we didn't. We took the kids downtown all afternoon.... we rode the carousel, and hit up three different exhibits around town. It was a really good day to just relax with the family. I really do recommend the Muppet's exhibit. It's an amazing display of what Jim Henson did... it was far beyond anything that I had ever realized, that's fer sure.

And, as the week goes by -- I am looking more and more forward to our trip this weekend. Chris, Nick, Amy, and I are all headed to the Hampton's on Friday afternoon. *sigh* RELAXATION, here we come!

written for my husband, just because.

CDSJ,
Thank you.
Thank you for the countless conversations into the late hours as of recently, mostly listening and sometimes talking. Thank you for the support. Thank you for never giving up on me, or us. Thank you for the million and two loads of laundry that you have done. Thank you for all of the hard work that you put into not only your career, and our future, but our family. Thank you for the times that you have made me laugh so hard that I cried. Thank you for all of the times that you turned my tears into laughter. Thank you for all of those moments when I am really mad about something, and you tell a really stupid one-liner, and I bust up laughing, and forget what I am mad about. Thank you for being patient in making our dreams come true. Thank you for meeting me at the alter on February 16th. Thank you for being the best Daddy in the whole wide world (I mean that, there is no better Daddy then my husband). Thank you for being a husband like no other, and by that I just mean that there is no comparing your strength, and un-dying love for me and this family to anyone else... you are special. Thank you for sitting back, and waiting until I realize my faults and flaws on my own, most of the time -- and then patiently waiting more while I work on them (I know, it's shocking sometimes that I'm not perfect). Thank you for never quitting -- although, I'm sure that I've driven you to the point where you want to either strangle me, or run away to Mexico. Thank you for making me feel like the most beautiful woman on the face of the planet. And, most of all -- thank you, for choosing me to spend the rest of your life with. I feel like I might possibly be the luckiest woman, EVER to have married you. I am so proud to call myself your wife. I am so proud to call you the father of our children. I am so proud to hold your hand, and watch our children at the park, together. I know that this may seem cheesy, and silly to some people for this to be on my blog... but, every once in awhile it's nice to let the whole world know how much you love someone. Especially, when they deserve it as much as my husband does.
I love you.
Thank you.

finally, something WORTH posting...

I know that I've already posted about it, but here's the official poster! I really hope to see everyone out that night!

Alcohol.

more uselessness on a Friday --
My friends and I have always LOVED this stand up routine....

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

I couldn't help myself

apparently Fridays are when my brain shuts down... I've already posted about So You Think You Can Dance (brain numbing in itself), and I'm about to post the single stupidest thing that I've ever seen. The shameful thing? It made me laugh...

See more Paris Hilton videos at Funny or Die

Oh, Paris. I'm generally one of the most patriotic people you'll find... however, when I see her, her... I can't even think of an appropriate adjective to describe that world famous blonde's face. I realize why the majority of foreign countries think Americans are ignorant. She's just... I dunno? Stupid. I'm ashamed that she's as well known, if not more so, then our presidential candidates around the world. *sigh* That's not hot.

So You Think You Can Dance, Finale 2008

(my 3 year old daughter Marleigh says after watching this one, "She's gonna cry 'cause her Daddy doesn't want to play with her!" -- amazing how their little brains work, isn't it?!)

I love this song, it's a gorgeous routine, and DAMN if that make out scene isn't hot!

I want to dance this. AMAZING. Raw.

I think that the couple that choreographed this dance might be my favorite. I love the slow hip-hop stuff. There's emotion to it.

Okay, I'm done cheesing over So You Think You Can Dance. You have to wait another year before I'll be talking about it again. It was all over last night, and Joshua Allen was named "America's Favorite Dancer".
Twitch was the runner-up (one of my favorites), Katee was the top girl (another favorite), and Courtney was 4th. They were all phenomenally talented, and make me want to get off my ass, and back into class.
I danced for over 15 hours a week all the way through high school, and I miss it terribly. I was dancing around my living room last night, looking like a fool. It was great :)

family reunited by Luke's Wings

As you all know, Luke's Wings is the non- profit that I will be supporting by donating proceeds from Andy's Dad, my children's book, to their cause.
To get the entire run-down, and story of how they were created and exactly what they do -- please head to http://www.lukeswings.org/.
Do yourself a favor, and read how they were started, what they stand for... read through the website. It's worth it.

Now, Luke's Wings is what I would call a baby of a non-profit, it's not been long since their very first fundraiser... and they just reunited their first wounded solider with his family.
Per usual, as I look through the few pictures that Luke's Wings has on their website of the reunion... I sob.
I look at that solder's mama, and I know that her heart literally stopped the minute that she got the phone call. She felt as if she couldn't breathe, and knew that there had to be a mistake.
My heart goes out to her, her husband and the many brothers and sisters that stand around this young hero, so proudly.
What an amazing thing, to be able to help these families get to the ones that they love most when they are needed the most.

Chamber-Bowl Party @ The Exchange

The US Chamber of Commerce apparently has what they call the Chamber Bowl Party every year. I believe it's to celebrate the end of their softball tournament (I may be mistaken, and it won't be the first time). This year, the employees that participate in the Chamber Bowl, decided to throw themselves a post-party at The Exchange - commonly known as "DC's oldest Sports Saloon".
Really? What the fuck does that even mean? I mean, I get this image that it was the very first place that the cowboys of the old west gathered to watch whatever sporting events they had back then, on second thought... maybe they are just talking about Redskin's fans and the last time that they gathered to watch their team win a Superbowl many, many years ago, as that could give this joint the title -- "DC's oldest Sports Saloon". Fascinating.

Back to the story at hand.... A group of"Chamber" employees gather at The Exchange post Chamber bowl party. They get together for happy hour, to have a good time, celebrate the end of this softball tourney, whatever. The usual company sponsored function, right? Not exactly. This post party was held to the tune of over $8,000. $8,204.67 to be exact. And, yes that was including gratuity. That bartender/server(s) made out like a bandit that evening. It's things like that, that make me miss standing behind that bar on certain evenings!

My source shall remain nameless, however, I was forwarded a copy of the bill/receipt via. E-Mail. And, this is what the breakdown was --
155 pitchers of beer (including one pitcher of Guinness, Shameful!)
37 bottles of beer
40+ Margaritas
208 Mix Drinks (including pitchers of Red Bull/Vodka -- DISGUSTING!)
111 Shots (including the old go to, Red Headed Sluts, and my personal favorite - Jager...)
11 Open Bottles of Liquor (totally over $700)
I'm kind of sad that I missed this throw down. It makes me want to work at The Chamber of Commerce in our nation's capital. Although, after reading the E-Mail, from the Vice President and COO David Chavern doesn't seem to be very pleased, and claims that...

"In light of my inability to trust people on this, at the very least any party will have to be limited, there will need to be one "adult" (and I mean that by attitude and not age) in charge -- and it won't be at the Exchange. By this e-mail, I am asking Clint and Bobby to contact the Exchange and inform them that the Chamber will not be patronizing their establishment for the foreseeable future."

Wait.... These people still have their jobs?! And furthermore, there will be more parties, just supervised. Well -- all you have to do is get the "adult" at the function trashed, and there ya go... Besides, who wants to go to "DCs oldest Sports Saloon" anyway?!

As a chamber employee puts it...
"Oh, and apparently the Chamber doesn't drink rail... Belvedere or Grey Goose anyone?"

John McCain on The View

John McCain just finished his segment on The View. Of course I only caught it from about half way through because I was fixing lunch for Connor and Marleigh. Mom brain led me to forget that it was even on today.

I can cope with Barbara Walters, she generally stays fairly un-biased, however, the only thing that was worse then Joy Behar with her smart-ass mouth, might have been Whoppi Goldberg *rolling her eyes* at a man that could possibly be her next Commander-in-Chief behind his back. Did Elisabeth Hasselbeck (the shows resident conservative) act in such a childish manner when Obama made his appearance on the show?! I think not. (To be positive, I watched the video footage... and was proven correct.)

I was a bit disappointed with the questions they asked, since it seemed to be a bit repetitive. They all pretty much just twisted the words of the same damn question over and over again. It wasn't as painful as I expected it to be, and he was even applauded a few times -- which was incredibly surprising. All in all, it was some publicity that he really could use... the housewives of America, the stay at home moms, like myself -- that generally ride the fence. No, not me -- but the majority of these women are sway voters.

I have to say, my favorite line out of McCain's mouth was... "And, this is coming from a man who finished 5th from the bottom of his class at The Naval Academy, which just shows you that anything can happen in America..."
and, of course Joy had to interject with her smart mouth, wondering... "Was that better or worse then President Bush??"

My personal opinion is that it is instantly made better, because he was graduating from The Naval Academy, instead of the usual Ivy League establishment... no matter what the standing.

And, while we are on the subject of the Navy, can I just put something out there. Something that has literally shocked me with the stupidity of your average American. And, believe it or not, this has happened to me twice!

I have, on the inside of my left wrist, a tattoo. It is a black Nautical Star. Christopher has a matching tattoo on both of his wrists. The Nautical Star represents guidance, as the stars/cardinal points, IE. North Star were the first things used by the sailors to guide there way on the open seas. No people, maps weren't always around. Our children are our guidance, and we got the Nautical Stars in representation of them.

Now, if you look at any of the ads (online, on TV, etc.) for John McCain -- above his name is a line with a Nautical Star in the middle. Why? Say it with me, now.... BECAUSE HE WAS IN THE NAVY. Very good, we are learning.

Okay, so back story complete -- on to the idiocy of your average American. I have had, on two separate occasions (mind you these are strangers - they know nothing of my political affiliation), ask me if the star on my wrist has anything to do with John McCain...
Yes, as soon as I saw that star above his ad, I decided to tell the world how much I supported him. WHAT IN THE HELL??

The first one was last night, at the grocery store... the lady that was checking me out, said... "I guess we know who you're voting for!" I was confused beyond belief. And then she pointed to the star. I just looked at her like she was nuts.... and said nothing.
The second one was this morning in the laundry room of our building. A gentleman that I've never even seen before just asked, point blank... "Does that star have anything to do with John McCain?" and then followed it up with this gem.... "It's cool if it does, I'm just wondering."

HUH??! *looks very confused, all over again..."
I am literally shocked at the stupidity of that statement. Well, no shit guy -- 'cause we live in America. I could even tattoo John McCain's name across my fucking forehead, if I wanted to. Thanks for the approval, laundry room douche-bag. I actually laughed at him.

FOR THE RECORD, I would never permanently change my body to show any part of my political opinion... EVER. My mouth does a fine job letting people know how I feel politically.

it's time for your weekend update!

Rise and Shine. The sun is out, and the birds are chirping.... no wait, that's just the kids making noise. And, it's Monday. Fabulous, isn't it?
I'm a bit of a crab myself this morning. I've never been a fan of the first day of the work week, even when I'm not working. Who is, really? I guess I've just got a case of the Mondays.

This weekend, on the other hand, was pretty fabulous. Although, I felt as if I was coming off of a three day bender on Sunday afternoon....

Thursday afternoon was Christopher's Division picnic. We had a good time, I really like the majority of the people that Chris works with. Yes, I said the majority. Yes, that means that there are a few people that I'm not such the fan of, however, I'm always polite. Can you believe it? I enjoyed the bourbon that was slipped into my soda on the odd occasion, and I certainly liked the kegs of bud lite. But, what I really enjoyed was being able to spend some time with my husband, and do something other then the same old. Being able to throw balls (dunk tank!) at a Col., among other higher ups is always a treat, as well. I just regret that Chris had to stay at work after all was said and done and I headed home....
Friday afternoon was spent knee deep in 7 loads of laundry, scrubbing the bathroom, the kitchen, vacuuming, etc. Basically giving the house a really good cleaning. And, Christopher took the kids to the pool while I took care of that. All three hours of it. Sounds fair, right? It was actually pretty nice to be able to clean, and take care of laundry without the two of them hanging onto my legs.

Friday evening, Amy picked the kids up and took them shopping with her. They embarked on The Great Ikea Adventure. While Chris and I got ready for a BBQ with some of the folks that he works with. It was a good time... It was a different time, I should say. I enjoyed myself, don't get me wrong. Chris and I always love getting out together, and having a little fun. I polished off my fair share of wine, and beer.... of course. We arrived home and were knocked out before our heads hit the pillow. We picked up the kids from "Aunt Mimi's" on Saturday morning, and I was off to my first day of training as a receptionist at Lords and Ladies.
I was trained by Amanda, who happened to be returning to college the following week... IE, she was 19; and didn't give a shit about training me, let alone anything else. You can imagine how helpful that was. I was really on my own to ask, whoever I could find to answer my questions, as she was sitting in the corner reading for the most part of the day. I figured a lot of stuff out, considering -- the only times I've ever stepped into a salon/day spa are to get waxed, colored, cut, etc. It was interesting to say the least. I've got Brittany training me next Saturday, who happens to be my friend, and now boss, kinda.... I'm sure I'll be squared away after her help.

Saturday afternoon Amy and I hit the grocery store for all kinds of yummy goodness, and about 16 bottles of vino. Amy hosted a girl's night in Saturday evening. We had an absolute blast, too. Amy made a phenomenal dip for the veggies, we had hummus/pita chips, jam and cheese tarts, bangin' kabobs on the grill, home-made mini mushroom and mozzarella pizza, and the list goes on... You should have seen us grilling in the rain! It took about three of us to figure out how we were gonna get more organic charcoal into the grill, because it went to ash in 5.3 seconds (we weren't supposed to use lighter fluid with the organic stuff, apparently -- and we were too impatient).... there were umbrellas involved, not too mention, about 4 bottles of champagne, and an entire bottle of Ruby Red Absolute had been put to shame already... SHIT SHOW! It was fabulous. I'll have to get some of the photos from Amanda (no, not the self-involved teenager from my new job that I spoke of previously... one of Amy's old co-workers, who's just wonderful). Saturday night rocked, plain and simple.

Anyhow... I crashed at Amy's that night, needless to say... and I awoke to my phone ringing at 7:30 am. It was my alarm going off. I called Chris to confirm our plans for church that morning, at 11am. HOWEVER, I was informed that we would be attending the 9:30 service. Ouch. That meant, no hitting the snooze on the alarm... It meant, jumping in the shower - STAT, and getting my ass in gear. Thank God the hangover wasn't too terrible. And, I actually enjoyed the service.
We took a short dip in the pool when we got home from church, and agreed that we should all just head up stairs and take a nap. Which I did, for almost 4 hours. It was spectacular. The kids snoozed for about 2 hours themselves, which means Christopher could watch whatever he wanted on TV, and I figure that's pretty important to most men.

"LOOK! The dress... oh wait, that's a trash bag!" that has to be the quote of the weekend...

Per usual -- I'm glad that I could entertain y'all with some inane babble about my weekend.

Irish Politics

I couldn't help but share this...
Thanks Loralei for sending this over to me!

A point to ponder despite your political affiliation:
We, in Ireland, can't figure out why people are even bothering to hold an election in the United States. On one side, you have a pants wearing lawyer, married to a lawyer who can't keep his pants on, who just lost a long and heated primary against a lawyer who goes to the wrong church and who is married to yet another lawyer who doesn't even like the country her husband wants to run.

Now... On the other side, you have a nice older war hero whose name appropriately starts with "Mc", married to a good looking younger woman who has a very large stake in a beer distributorship.

What in the Lord's name is hard about this decision??

pancakes, galore

I made pancakes this morning. What's that you say... ? "That's not so hard!" Well, they weren't your ordinary pancakes....
Connor requested that his pancakes be Spiderman pancakes and Marleigh requested Dora the Explorer pancakes (she said she wanted her to wear shoes, too -- I think relating the fact that Marleigh has Dora tennis shoes to her pancakes, or something... not really sure WHAT that was about).
Somehow, I miraculously pulled the job off. Both children were content with their pancakes.... even though they didn't even remotely look like Spiderman, or Dora.... More like, a polar bear, and an alien. But, hey -- the kids were happy!

Tomorrow is Chris's division picnic, complete with dunk tank, kegs, margarita machines, moon bounce, etc. It should be fun. This will be the first year that I've attended... I'm looking forward to meeting all the of people that my husband works with, since I haven't had the opportunity to attend a single Christmas party (except for the one where we met, although I wasn't exactly attending -- I was bartending), picnic, anything really... we joined a few of his colleagues on a trip to Atlantic City last year, but really -- I have only been introduced to a handful of people. It seems as if I've always got something conflicting when their functions are scheduled (it used to be WORK!). And, of course -- it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Cross your fingers that the nasty weather holds off.

Saturday, I'll be training at Lords and Ladies for the morning/afternoon... I'm not really sure how long I'll be there, or what exactly training will consist of. I know, I know -- a receptionist position... how hard can it be? It's a salon on a Saturday though.... pretty busy, that's fer sure. I am stoked to start there... the discounts are gonna be fabulous.
Then Saturday evening, Amy is hosting an evening of girlie fun at her place, where we will enjoy a few yummy munchies, and I'm sure loads of wine/cocktails, and the like. I think another kitchen pass may be in order.

Speaking of kitchen, I should attend to mine and clean up the mess that the Spiderman/Dora pancakes left behind...

I'm glad that I could be of service in the form of weak entertainment for the 4.6 minutes it took for you to read the pointlessness above.... Happy Hump Day!

Lords and Ladies, here I come

so, I've taken a part-time gig... on Saturdays, at Lords and Ladies Salon in Old Town as a receptionist. It's an upscale, full service salon (IE, color/cut, facials, waxing, ad nauseam) and it seems like it will be a fun little thing for me.
Not to mention the perks are pretty fabulous... um, only paying 10% for my color/cut, facials, waxing, etc.etc.etc. is going to be amazing. I am willing to bet, I'll still have Gina doing my hair because, I'm pretty damn loyal to her and her talents as my hairdresser. But, I can spend $100s on facials, etc. just see my previous post http://abartendersword.blogspot.com/2008/07/almost-6-months-old.html#links!!!

So golf claps for Brittany, as she landed me the job... and here's to gettin' gorgeous for next to nothing (that's a SERIOUS perk for a stay at home mama)!!

another political tirade...

As I sit in here, on a Sunday morning with my Live365 radio playing my favorite classic rock station, and I pour over the different online news publications, and look to craigslist for something part-time, I can hear the kids and Chris rough housing in the living room laughing their asses off, being their crazy selves - which happens to be the usual for a weekend morning here at the Jones' household. I'm not sure how long the peace will last though, with me in the bedroom -- not giving attention to any of them (yes, Christopher -- I'm including you in that statement).... and of course, it doesn't last long.

My husband walks into the room, and exclaims...
"Baby, while I've got the kids occupied, can you please do me a favor??"

I glance sideways and laugh. "Maybe...."

"Please, Shannon -- it's really bothering me that the dishes aren't done, can you just do the breakfast table, kitchen and stuff... I'll keep the kids occupied for you, and you can come back in here and write, or whatever you want...."

*you have to understand, that although for most men this would be totally out of character, they could give two shits if the house is in order or not -- this is commonplace for Chris to want everything in order. Not only is he a Marine, he is also a Jones. And, he brings up a valid point, now that I'm a stay at home mama, these things are part of the job description....*

So, I act like a total biatch, per usual when I am interrupted while writing, or reading.... and as I walk into my gleaming kitchen I turn to see my husband laughing his ass off at me. He had not only done the dishes, but cleaned the entire kitchen.

In true fashion, he had to make me look like an ass to get his praise. Sometimes, I forget just how fabulous he is, and he always has a good way of bringing me back down to reality -- and reminding me of just how lucky I really am.

They continue to play in the living room.... and there isn't much else that can bring more joy to my heart then listening to Chris, Connor, and Marleigh belly laughing.... except maybe a political rant... yea, that brings me a lot of joy as well!

Sooooo here we go............
I can't cope with anymore of Obama's over seas campaigning... I'm sorry, but you are currently a Senator. You have yet to be elected as The President of the United States of America, dig? That means -- if you are going to take these trips abroad, don't expect to be treated as The Commander in Chief is, and when you aren't don't then turn around and complain about it.

AND, furthermore -- (yup, that's a soap-box that I just pulled out of thin air), YOU HAD TIME TO WORK OUT IN THE GYM AT THE RITZ-CARLTON (aren't you all glad that you donated to the Obama campaign, so that he could say in the effing Ritz while abroad), HOWEVER YOU DID NOT HAVE TIME TO VISIT OUR TROOPS AT THE US BASES IN GERMANY. WHICH, BTW -- IS WHERE MOST OF OUR INJURED BOYS TRAVEL THROUGH ON THEIR WAY HOME.
I think that you could have skipped your jog that day, seriously....

I'm just glad that the man is back on American soil. I can deal with the media pouring over him, and basically proclaiming their undying love for him, it's just a bit trying when he does it standing next to people that have very openly, and publicly expressed their dis-like, hatred almost, of America and Americans. The President of France, for God's sake... it couldn't have been the PM of Ireland, or England... you had to pick Nicolas Sarkozy, didn't you? And -- what I find the most interesting, is that when Obama is giving his speech, and he starts to speak of the terrorist attacks on the WORLD, not just the US, the WORLD (IE. Madrid, London, etc.) the applause stop (apparently, it's the pussification of the WORLD, not just America). But, when he speaks of changing anything about America (health care, withdrawing OUR troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, the AMERICAN economy), they continue to cheer.

WTF? They don't even vote... Why do they care what happens in our country? I come to three conclusions on this one. Number one, they love that this man wants to buy into Europe's whole "we are all equal, our taxes, currency, etc. are all the same, we are one big nation state, blah, blah..." (NOW, time-out... I'm not saying that he has come out and lobbied for this, he WOULDN'T -- however... he's got that mentality. Change, turn the page, new beginning, you get the picture)... and, Europeans would love that. Then they'd be on the same playing field as our country, which has been a Super Power for the last 70-80 years.
AND, now for number two... since the American dollar is so low at the moment, and our economy is in what I would call a recession -- American tourism in Europe is low, and our money isn't flowing into those countries as it usually is. They want that tourism to continue, and they want the American dollar to go back up in value, hence we would be much more likely to spend it abroad. Let's be honest, the American economy has the biggest impact on the world... Just a thought.
And, per usual number three is that it is fashionable to hate America, and of course what goes hand in hand with that? -- President Bush/Republicans.

The media has done a spectacular job of getting as much footage of this as possible across to the American people.
AND SINCE WHEN DO REPORTERS FOLLOW PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES OVER SEAS (not one, not two, but three major journalist followed him on his trip throughout Europe even though no campaign photographers were allowed)??? Oh, I guess since Presidential candidates travel abroad to campaign, that's now common practice. I'm fucking lost here.
The associated press even issued a statement saying that they were a bit concerned at the amount of journalists that seem to be "in the tank" for Obama, and are just comfortable showing their bias to the world.
It's all a bit strange....
I've said it about a million and one times before... the man can speak. He is eloquent, educated, diverse, and by no means a dummy. I just think that he lacks experience number one, and of course -- falls way too far to the left for me.

AND EVEN IF I was all about Obama, and supported his values and the stands that he takes on all of the important issues -- I'd still raise an eyebrow to the way that the media is behaving. I mean, we all know that it's a liberal media (par from Fox News and a few others that fall towards of the right, or even dare I say it -- report without bias??!)... it's just astonishing though, how many journalists have thrown morals to the wind. They are what we call "Fishes" in the world of writing.

Well, that was a nice little tirade wasn't it?

I'll end with giving The McCain's what the press won't... a little attention, with the only means that I have at my disposal. My little blog...

John McCain, and his wife Cindy McCain everyone-- I don't know if you've heard, but he's the GOP candidate for President. Just thought I'd let y'all know in case you hadn't heard yet.
Yes, he's running against Obama.
No, Obama has not been elected President yet....
No, the elections aren't until November.
*shakes head*
Seriously people, educate yourselves through other things besides the liberal media... there are plenty of other sources out there. At least give yourself a healthy dose of both, that's all I ask. Don't be afraid of the answers you'll get if you ask the scary questions.
